new-director-of-operations-at-tsogo-sun-kzn-hotels2According to South Africa’s leading casino and hotel group, Tsogo Sun, a new director of operations for its KwaZulu-Natal hotels has been appointed. Samantha Craft is also the group’s first female director of operations.


Croft has a rich and illustrious career in South Africa’s hospitality and tourism sector, spanning over two and half decades. Tsogo Sun said that over the years she has focused on developing young talent and has done much to support the community. She has strong knowledge of the country’s tourism sector, with particular strength in strategic business development and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Speaking of her new role, Croft said: “It is my honor to be appointed to this key position in the Durban region. Tsogo Sun is committed to building a talent pool of highly skilled professionals focusing our commitment to service excellence.”

Croft is excited to use her role as new director of operations to improve on the success of Tsogo Sun’s KZN hotels and casinos.

“My plans are to improve the performance of the hotels, not only financially but seeing them as being recognized as iconic in Durban, based on their strengths and different service delivery,” she said.

In the meantime, Tsogo Sun commemorated several decades of tourism in Durban and its contribution to this sector over the past 50 years.

Tsogo Sun has several hotels and two resorts that include uShaka Marine World and the casino and entertainment development, Suncoast Casino. Altogether, Tsogo Sun’s nine properties in the region offer just under 2,000 rooms, 13 restaurants, 8 bars and many other services, facilities and amenities.

Tsogo Sun’s chief operating officer, Ravi Nadasen commented on the group’s contribution to Durban’s tourist and gambling sector.

“Tsogo Sun is proud of our position as a key role player in the Durban economy,” he said, adding that the group’s continued investment in the local properties reflected on its confidence in the area as a key South African tourist destination.

Tsogo Sun is soon set to complete a redevelopment of its prime Durban casino, SunCoast, which will cost over R1.6 billion.
