Sandton Set to Host Gambling Expo This Month

One of the biggest gatherings of casino and gambling professionals in Africa is set to take place in Johannesburg this month. The Sandton Convention Center will host the ICE Africa 2018 event which will focus on iGaming. It is expected that professionals from 52 countries around the world (including Africa, America, Europe and Asia) will attend the conference.

This week, one of the most important white label solutions providers, Slotegrator, confirmed that it would also be attending the event and would be displaying some of its latest products. The group is also considered an important content aggregator.

The conference is expected to address some of Africa’s top gambling industry issues, such as the changing laws in South Africa, regulatory changes and the possibility of the introduction of online casinos in the region. Other matters expected to be addressed include casino security, payment methods, protection against money laundering and other crimes, and investment strategies.

This is the first time that the ICE convention will take place outside of the United Kingdom, where it has become one of the highlights of the global industry’s calendar. The conference will be attended by a huge number of online casino operators, software providers, game developers and many different experts.

The ICE Africa 2018 event will take place on October 24th and 25th and represent 24 African nations. The convention was launched following the hugely positive coming together of all sectors of the industry at Gaming Africa in 2017. The expedition is free to attend.

Speaking ahead of the event, Price Waterhouse Coopers executive, Pietro Calcchio, said that the gambling industry in South Africa would continue to be adversely affected in the near term by slower economic growth, but improving economic conditions over the latter part of the forecast period would aid growth.

“The industry remains an important contributor to the economy through the creation of jobs, continued capital expansion and the payment of taxes to both provincial and national government,” he said.

South Africa’s gambling industry includes 40 casinos and around 38,000 slot machines. The industry today is worth more than R23 billion and contributes billions to the country’s economy.
