morula-sun-casino South Africa’s premier entertainment destination, Sun City, announced a number of upgrades and expansion plans to the public recently. The casino resort will be adding more accommodation options for visitors to choose from, including countryside themed Cabanas Chalets which will be located close to Sun City’s Cultural Village, around 750 meters from the Cabanas hotel in the Letsatsi bush.

Visitors may be familiar with the chalets in the region which were originally operated by Kwena Gardens in its Kwena Chalets and Crocodile Sanctuary for nearly two decades. Recently, however, it was decided that Sun International would manage the chalets, after incorporating them into the Sun City resort. There are 14 chalets in total, with each one accommodating up to four people. The Luxury Chalet boasts a pampering king sized bed, an en-suite bathroom and a separate living area for visitors.

While the chalets may be located in the bush, there is nothing rustic about their interiors – from the beautiful, authentic designs to the last word in comfortable living such as modern mini bars, coffee machines and wi-fi access.

The managing executive of Sun City, Mike van Vuuren said that Sun City was the flagship of Africa’s largest tourism, leisure and gaming group and had a special place in the hearts of the millions of people who visit the resort each year.

“With this substantial investment, we strive to continue to being unrivalled when it comes to providing our guests with superb hospitality options,” said the executive.

Van Vuuren added that the Cabanas Chalets offer holidaymakers to Sun City a very new and very special experience.

“Located securely within the confines of the resort but neatly tucked away from the bustle, Cabanas Chalets offer guests a serene sanctuary while allowing them easy access to the resort’s facilities and action,” he said. “Sun City is delighted to continue the proud heritage of the chalets.”

The news of the acquisition of the Cabanas Chalets comes after an announcement made earlier this year that Sun City plans to spend over R800 million on an upgrade. Since then, that amount has been adjusted to over R200 million.

Recently, Sun City installed a brand new waterslide, in addition to its existing six waterslides, providing what it says is “an exhilarating experience”.

“Anticipation peaks as you wait for the trap door to open below, sending you into an intense vertical free fall into the loop with speeds that leave you breathless,” said a spokesperson for Sun International, Colin Jonkers.
