Sun City Celebrates 4 Decades of South African Casino Entertainment

Sun International’s flagship resort, Sun City, is celebrating forty exciting years in the South African gaming and hospitality industry this year, with a giant birthday bash planned for December. The resort was the brainchild of casino magnate, Sol Kerzner who set it up in the dry bush landscape of Bophuthatswana, legally out of South African’s boundaries but near enough for local players to access and get their gambling fix.

Sun City is planning a huge celebratory party in December this year and is inviting everyone to visit.

Mike van Vuuren, the General Manager of Sun City said this week: “Our 40th anniversary is certainly an auspicious milestone that we are celebrating with a year-long super charged line-up of entertainment, events and promotions. The Big 40 Birthday Party is on 7 December 2019, exactly 40 years to the day since the resort’s doors were opened to the public.”

The party will include a concert at the Valley of Waves, featuring artists such as Shkhinah, Kurt Darren and Mia Casa, as well as a fantastic firework display. The Big Forty After Party will feature local DJs such as DJ Christos and Vinny da Vinci.

Those purchasing hotel accommodation for the birthday weekend (December 6th and 8th), will receive two free tickets (worth R2,600) to the Big 40 Birthday Party.
